Project: Istanbul Galataport – Seasonal Lighting & Installations

Alice Scenic Studios has carried out the turnkey design and production of large-scale and interactive outdoor lighting installations designed with a “Waves of the Bosphorus” concept for Galataport, one of Istanbul’s most important public living spaces.

  • Productions Within Scope:
    • Large-scale and animated light tunnels in the form of waves, stretching along the Galataport coastline, which visitors can walk through.
    • Conical and modern-designed Christmas trees of various sizes, made entirely of lights, located in the venue’s main square.
    • The “Bosphorus Winter” text and other complementary light décor adorning the building facades.
  • Materials and Techniques Used:
    • The main construction of the light tunnels and trees was produced by shaping aluminum and steel profiles with special bending techniques for full durability in outdoor conditions.
    • Throughout the installations, energy-efficient, long-lasting professional strip and string LED lighting products suitable for outdoor use (IP67 rated) were used.
    • Software such as AutoCAD, 3ds Max, and Dialux were utilized during the design, engineering, and light programming phases for 3D modeling, visualization, and lighting design.
  • Project Objectives and Benefits Provided:
    • One of Istanbul’s newest and most prestigious public spaces was transformed into a center of attraction for both Istanbulites and tourists during the winter season.
    • A unique and artistic concept, “Waves of the Bosphorus,” inspired by the venue’s location on the Bosphorus, was designed and brought to life.
    • Large-scale and immersive light tunnels were created, which people can walk through, interact with, and photograph to share on social media.
    • Monumental light installations were built that are durable for outdoor conditions, use energy-efficient LED technologies, and are of the highest level in terms of engineering and safety.
