Project: VR Simulator Casings – Design & Manufacturing
Alice Scenic Studios has carried out the design and production of outer shells (casings) and bodies for high-technology VR game and simulation systems in different concepts such as Formula 1, Bugatti, and a helicopter, as a turnkey project.
- Productions Within Scope:
- A realistic outer body for a Formula 1 race car simulator.
- A Bugatti-concept vehicle cabin mounted on a hydraulic motion platform.
- A helicopter simulator cabin with interior fittings and a transparent canopy.
- Materials and Techniques Used:
- All vehicle bodies and cabins were produced with the fiberglass (FRP) molding technique using high-precision molds after 3D modeling (CAD).
- Multi-layered putty, sanding, and high-quality automotive paints were used to achieve a smooth and glossy surface at automotive standards.
- For the transparent canopy of the helicopter simulator, thermoformed acrylic or polycarbonate material was used.
- Engineering and design software such as SolidWorks, Rhino, and AutoCAD, and the CNC machining technique were utilized in the design and mold production processes.
- Project Objectives and Benefits Provided:
- Immersion was maximized for the user by combining VR game and simulation experiences with realistic and high-quality vehicle replicas.
- Custom-designed outer shells were produced for different concepts, protecting the technological hardware inside and presenting it aesthetically.
- Complex forms that are both durable and have smooth, automotive-quality surfaces were created using the fiberglass (FRP) molding technique.
- Products fully compatible and ready for integration with the client’s VR systems, motion platforms, and control units were delivered.
